Do you have any evidence these claims ?

That’s your best argument?

TikTok is a weaponized spy tool. Created by our enemy to spy on and influence particularly vulnerable kids & young people. They have spent hundreds of millions $$. Which is finding it’s way into the pockets of corrupt politicians. If it was just a propaganda tool I think an age restriction would be enough, but giving our enemy eyes on the ground goes beyond that. We wouldn’t allow any other type of weapon to be placed on native land. The Chinese are play multi dimensional chess and we are playing hopscotch. That is the real issue. Owning ports, farmland & food processing plants is another area when we are woefully unprotected. By failing to recognize who & what our enemy is, we may have already handed our nation into their hands.

“TikTok is a weaponized spy tool. Created by our enemy to spy on and influence particularly vulnerable kids & young people.”

Americans should assume all foreign nations will spy on us & use all tools available to gain influence & power to their advantage. This is also not exclusively a China problem (or a foreign problem). Our current world of social media, cell phones, gps, AI, satellite imagery, ect. has created spying capabilities that are so vast & pervasive that they are god like in scope & scale.

One of the technical allegations I’ve heard levied against TikTok is the code is so complex & intricate making it the most sophisticated spying tool in relation to all other social media platforms.

Ironically the political solution to safeguard privacy is not to neuter these capabilities, but to transfer them by selling to an approved steward. Which can make both your point above & Michael’s point below both valid.

“I suspect the real reason for the potential ban is that the Biden administration can’t thrust its will upon TikTok like it can US based companies.”
