For some reason that has become a politically incorrect term. Not sure of the logic there

Expand full comment

Of course it's cynical. Of course Team D wants to make the election as substance-free as humanly possible, lest the voters react negatively. Happy-ass rhetoric aside, of course Team D seeks to continue the Biden genocides.

Doesn't matter, as long as it works.

It’s frightening how dumbed down election campaigns have become.

Expand full comment

The only thing that matters is whether it gets the desired results. If reasoned, informed and high-minded discussions deliver results, then candidates will posture as if they were dispassionate interlocutors seeking Truth And Goodness, whereever they might be found.

If cynical voter manipulation, outright lies and even cheating or physical violence get the candidate across the finish line, then they will be cynics, cheaters and thugs, even unto rank nihilism.

Absolutely. They will say anything to get elected. And I mean anything. Like Obama calling out the “big cats on Wall Street” while taking about millions of dollars in donations from the very sane people.

Well, Obama ran a textbook example of such a campaign. The slogan "hope" is notably devoid of concrete proposals which might otherwise be open to criticism.

Instead, Obama let the voters project on him whatever they wished to see, then proceeded to govern as a slightly more articulate version of Dubya with a different idpol.

It’s one of the terms that doesn’t have a specific meaning so you can’t disagree with it. Just like “support the troops”

Yes terms like “hope” snd ‘@change” are like a blank canvas that people can project anything I want onto it.

Expand full comment

Well said. I've often thought in pure political terms, Obama 2008 and Trump 2016 were the most brilliant campaigns. People projected their hope onto Obama, then projected all their grievances onto Trump. Both were blank slates for lost hope.

Well, once in office, Trump governed as a more dysfunctional version of Dubya.

Kamala (and Tim) are nothing more than two "sales associates." They’ve both been selected on the basis of their capacity to represent the marketing brand ("We're Not Trump.") The agit prop fabrication created to unite the imperialist corporate state. Their sales associates' pitch is carefully fabricated to promise a bogus vision of rainbows, puppies and glitter but all that they themselves have to deliver is more endless war, censorship and thought control (replacing dialog and discussion in what was once an open forum of ideas) and the lame endorsement of the completely bankrupt (35 trillion and counting) corporate status quo. Neither of them is remotely capable of leading or articulating anything like an authentic reform of our fundamentally broken and corrupt economic system. Which has, in the last 4 or 5 years (since the imposition of pandemic lockdown restrictions on small businesses and the free exchange of ideas) presided over the greatest transfer of wealth upwards, directly to the already wealthiest, in history.

That’s all it is .. a not Trump campaign. They have no agenda at all. But they con so many people into believing it, its frightening

Expand full comment

Yes, but none of this matters if the sales pitch works.

I think it's going to matter in the long run. Lucy can pull the football on Charlie Brown only so many times before he walks away and asks for his ball back. And this iteration of Lucy seems pretty likely to fumble the snap or not even line up a fake placement.

In direct correspondence to the dumbing down of the populace. Juxtapose the way Putin addresses the Russians, and draw conclusions about their intelligence and education.

No,

She does intend to “prosecute” it, expose its most venal ills, and will probably be the one who literally does drain the swamp: while escaping the sewage, and the stench; unlike #45 who literally wallows in it proudly: (therein lays the cosmetic and very important difference).

She’ll expose it, lay out a case for its ruin, gain the favor of #45 ‘s enemies as she makes them millions, and silence her enemies into the abyss. She will make Maggie Thatcher look benign by comparison. Using the rights of free choice, (supposedly useless to male voters of course, exempting those who might give a damn because they would launch a nuclear weapon if ANY one laid a hand in THEIR property (uhh.. daughter /wife/sister). Then of course comes middle class elevation, actual living wages, opportunities, (UNIONS! : K really not a bad thing that : not at all!). And “guarding” the vote so as to make access easy for all able to register.

Get all that covered ? and you’ve got a new admin. The War Machine is not POTUS ‘s to control or fix (not on their own at any rate). The Prosecutor operates like Koby B;

The object is to win: regardless of the effort:

or maybe because if it.

Cackles and Tampon Timmy are doing their sleight-of-hand, keeping the Dem masses "joyful."

Meanwhile, Sleepy Joe Biden and BS Blinken have authorized use of weapons to strike deep in Russia. Once again, Putin threatens war, nuclear war, if these weapons are used, a point lost on Blinken.

These numbskulls are going to get us killed and our country destroyed over the next 5 months. They must pay a price, if so.

I guess if genocide is now okay, Dick Cheney isn't much of a stretch.

The Dems are just running with what she has, which can't be about her policies. She supports tax-free tips, a longer border wall, and more funding for the genocide. Just like Trump. She is against the Green New Deal, Medicare for All, and defunding the police. Also like Trump. She tells the voters that if they vote for her, she will execute these popular Trump policies without being Trump. So, if you like Trump's policies but not his personal baggage, Harris is your minority woman.

Well I need to be pragmatic. What does it do for the stock market and the cost of living. Triffins dilemma. Trump wants to end income tax. Have 100 percent tarriffs. Have not heard anything from Kamala except more war and more joy party down

I need to decide if living outside USA will improve my quality of life

Preferably in a country not being bombed by USA or color revolutioned by cia

It’s all very confusing

Don't worry. We won't have such a force under Harris/Walz. The CCP will activate its battalions within the country and seize the levers of power without firing a shot.

If you are calling the action against HAMAS “genocide”, you are too far to the left to have a worthwhile opinion about Harris-Trump.

I long for the day when we no longer use words like 'great' or 'spot on' to describe such offerings, but here we are. Let me pile on a bit. Ya know that scary (It really is!) Project 2025? Well, as the attacks on Prof. Shaw, Scott Ritter, etc. etc. increase, some of its more draconian proposals are already in place., and most USAians remain passive consumers of the bread and circuses. Sigh.

None of 2025 applies to Trump et al. That is the thought bubble of some pointy-headed conservative thinkers not affiliated with Trump.
